My Sewing List

I have been going through the list of events that I want to attend, and trying to narrow them down to what is actually doable--both costume-wise and budget-wise. Without any new surprises, I have come up with a list of items I will be needing. I am hoping to get these things done for my events (though that never seems to work out). If it doesn't happen, I still want to complete them so I have a historical wardrobe on hand, and do not have to go through the crazy mad-rush to make something.

**Due to some unforeseen issues, I have had to push everything back--by a lot. I will just keep trying to build on the wardrobe so when things come up this next year maybe I can make it and have something to wear.**

Halloween, 2016 -- possibly multiple events

Does multiple events mean different costumes for each?? Maybe...

1850's Event --Changing to the one in December to make my life easier!

This, and Civil War era, is not my usual thing, but I am going to give it a go. Thanks to two historical costuming friends, I will not be having to make a corset (I will be using the one that was gifted to me, even if it might be a little later period), nor a hoop-skirt. It is not as full as it probably should be but for my purposes it will work nicely. My daughter who is 10 will also be attending with me. She is not only going to grow, I am not certain if we will be doing this era again so I will be going as simple as possible for this and not making all the underthings. So for this event I will need:

1:1850's day dress
2: Petticoat
3: Drawers
4: Chemise (though I may cheat and use what I have for now)
5: Bonnet
6: Purse
7: Gloves?
8: Wrap??
9; Shoes

10: Girls Day dress
11: Petticoat
12: Drawers
13: Bonnet
14: Wrap???
15: Shoes

Wow!! That is a HUGE list!! Well, I will do the best I can. I have not yet figured out the style I will do for my daughter, but for me I decided to use the style of the gown in Janet Arnold's patterns of fashion. I will more than likely make changes but this is the basic shape. I have a lovely chocolate Moire that I will be using.

Renaissance Event--Not sure which one but will wear eventually.
***This one already might not happen due to a scheduling conflict I just found out about today. However, the costumes are still on the to-do list for other events***

This is an event I want to go to but it covers two of the kids birthdays so not absolutely sure on this. The only reason I actually want to attend is to wear what will be my first attempt at Venetian garb. I have been wanting to make a courtesan for forever and this is finally my chance. But if this date doesn't work--or the weather is horrible--I will wait to an event at the end of August. Either way, I need costumes for myself, my son, and my daughter. Elaina's is basically done, and was a play on Merida's outfit. The only thing she needs/wants is a pouch, and a cape in case it rains. My husband's new job will unfortunately keep him from being able to attend this one.

1: Venetian Courtesan gown
2: Camica
3: Partlet?
4: Wig
5: Shoes
6: Breeches?? These will probably be something that I add later on.
7: Robe or cape???

8: Son's Viking Shirt
9: Tunic or Doublet
10: Breeches
11: Boots
12: Accessories
13: Cape???

14: Merida Dress
15: Chemise
16: Belt
17: Pouch
18: Cape

Regency Event

A quick little event: a lovely Regency tea. It would be nice if I had something made for this already, but in true fashion I do not. I made Elaina an outfit last year but she outgrew it before she could even wear it, so now I have to start over.

1: Regency Dress
2: Bodiced petticoat OR long corset and petticoat
3: Shift??
4: Shoes
5: Purse
6: Wrap
7: Bonnet??

8: Girls Regency Dress
9: Bodiced petticoat
10: Bonnet
11: Wrap

AUGUST 11-14 - Colonial Festival
**As usual life gets in the way, and not only can I not camp I probably will not even make one day. All the clothes are still on the list. Perhaps I can make it next year :( **

This one I am terribly excited for! It was originally only going to be a day trip or two, but thanks to the group's kindness, I was offered tentage and will be able to stay for most of, if not all, of the event. 18th century is my absolute favorite time period and clothing. Just LOVE it. So I came up with several things I really want to make, but it will all come down to time and money. So I guess this is my wishlist. If it doesn't get made now I will do so later. Also, my daughter will be coming for some of the time and my husband at least one of the nights. Son still not sure on. Until I know particulars I cannot plan too much for them.

1: Linen shift
2: Lawn shift with ruffles
3: Silk Corset OR JP Ryan partially boned corset
4: Larkin & Smith Corset
5: False Rump
6: Paniers
7: Linen petticoat
8: Cotton shift with drawstrings (use to sleep in??)
9: Stockings
10: Bedgown
11: Mob cap
12: Wig
13: Black leather shoes
14: Red leather shoes
15: Flat shoes
16: Pockets
17: Saque dress
18: Straw hat
19: Riding habit
20: Hat
21: Caracco jacket and skirt
22: Fichu
23: Polonaise

That is a huge list! I hope to get it done but I do  have to work, go to school, sew for my supper, and take care of kids. It is ambitious to say the least, so we shall see. But what doesn't get made for this event WILL get made for another one. I need to build my wardrobe! I will most likely base my designs off the patterns in Patterns of Fashion. As much as I need to put out for materials, if I can save on patterns that is at least something.

THINGS I NEED TO FINISH OR MAKE

1: Professor McGonagal
2: Silk Corset
3: Regency Shirt
4: JP Ryan Jacket
5: Dustin's Cosplay costume
7: Jacob's Cosplay costume
